Mike and Pete I met Mike over 30 years ago when we both worked at Kenwoods. The design office was a happy place to work. Out of work Mike and I would play snooker at the Southbourne Club on a regular basis. Over a 2 year period when I was on my own, Mike helped me through a difficult time in my life. Mike was a character who didn't follow the norm. For him, his life didn't revolve around having a car, he was happy with shank's pony. He had a very inventive mind - he designed a game as a flight giveaway. This is the same man who took a detour on his bike into a roadside ditch. It was a coincidence that Sue (Mike's wife) worked with Madeline (now my wife). We recalled recently a summer barbeque at Sue and Mike's where Madeline and I finished up "under a blanket". The most memorable outing we had together was a day return to Le Havre, on a booze cruise - it was an adventurous day and on the return we enjoyed a few drinks. As Madeline and I spent more time together, Mike was 'upset' that Sue was encouraging us and I was 'deserting' him. I know of few people who would take off to Luxembourg to work but I knew by then he was a one-off and nothing was surprising. I remember on a trip home we had an impromptu lunch at Wetherspoons. I was lucky to have met Mike on the path of life. (This was sent to me by Pete Talkington today, and I have copied it word for word - Pete used to be a very good friend of Mike) Sue Skidmore
